Can Ring tell you if your door is locked?
Not on its own. Ring's alarm contact sensors detect whether a door or window is open or closed - they have no view of the bolt or thumb-turn, so a closed-but-unlocked door looks exactly like a locked one. Ring is excellent at what it does: entry detection, cameras and alarm coverage. If you connect a compatible third-party smart lock through Works with Ring, lock status can appear in the Ring app - but that means replacing or motorising your lock. If you just want to know the lock state of the door you already have, that is a different kind of sensor.

Common questions
Do Ring door sensors know if the door is locked?
No. Ring Alarm contact sensors are magnetic open/closed sensors. They report door position, not the state of the lock, so they cannot distinguish a locked door from one that is merely shut.
Can the Ring app ever show lock status?
Yes, if you add a compatible third-party smart lock via Works with Ring (for example certain Schlage, Yale or Kwikset models). That requires fitting a motorised smart lock; Ring itself does not make a lock-state sensor.
Can I keep Ring and still get lock-state alerts?
Yes. A dedicated lock monitor such as Locksure attaches next to your existing lock and sends locked/unlocked alerts independently, so it complements rather than replaces a Ring system.
