Patents
We hold two UK patent applications covering the retrofit mechanism that lets a sensor read an existing lock without replacing or modifying it.
| Application | Title | Status |
|---|---|---|
| GB2402666.8 | An Apparatus for Detecting a Change in a Lock State | In order for grant. The UK Intellectual Property Office has issued its intention to grant. |
| GB2607464.1 | An Apparatus for Detecting a Change in a Lock State (divisional) | Filed 31 March 2026. Under examination. |
Neither patent has been granted yet, so we describe the products as patent pending. We will state the granted number here when it is issued rather than before.
Matter certification
Our Matter devices are built on Nordic Semiconductor’s CSA-certified nRF Connect SDK Matter platform, certificate CSA25001MCPM0001-24.
Product-level Matter certification for the Locksure device has not yet been completed. That is a separate certification from the platform one above, and we would rather say so plainly than let the distinction blur. The devices work today in Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings and Home Assistant. We are working through the certification route and will publish the certificate on this page when it is granted.
What the product does, and does not, do
Locksure sensors report whether a lock has been turned. They do not contain a motor and they are not connected to the lock mechanism, so they cannot lock or unlock your door, and neither can anyone else through them. Your existing lock, cylinder and keys are unchanged, and the insurance rating of your lock is unaffected because nothing about it is modified.
This is a deliberate design decision rather than a limitation. A device that cannot open a door cannot be used to open a door.

Independent discussion
We post about the technical development of these devices under our own name, and answer questions, in public. Those threads are not marketing copy and are not edited by us once other people have replied.
