Setting up the Display Hub and joining Wi-Fi
The Display Hub does two jobs. It listens to your monitors over Bluetooth and shows each door on its screen, and it sends every change to the Locksure app over your home Wi-Fi. It needs a USB power socket and a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Setup is done from the Locksure app on your phone over Bluetooth; you never type anything on the hub.
Before you start
- Peel the yellow backing from the back of the hub, stick it onto a suitable USB plug (5 V, 1 A) and plug in the supplied cable, within about 5 to 7 metres of the door and with as few walls in between as you can manage. See Range and where to put the hub.
- Have your Wi-Fi name and password to hand. The hub joins 2.4 GHz networks only. If your router broadcasts one name for both bands, that is fine; the hub picks the 2.4 GHz side.
- Fit at least one monitor first, so the hub has a door to find.
- Keep Bluetooth on and stand near the hub.
Step by step
- Add your doors on the hub first. Touch and hold the hub’s screen (up to ten seconds) until its setup menu appears, choose DOORS (SETUP DOORS on earlier hubs), then ADD NEW DOOR. The hub shows DOOR SEARCH with a 50-second countdown: lock or unlock the door and watch for the flash on the monitor. For a key turn door it searches for the INSIDE monitor first, then the OUTSIDE one; turn the key from that side each time. The door appears on the hub’s screen.
- Install the Locksure app (App Store or Google Play) and create an account, or sign in.
- Tap + (Add Device), choose Locksure Hub, then Locksure Hub (non-Matter). The app shows its pairing instructions: turn on Bluetooth; touch and hold the hub’s screen until the menu appears and press APP; wait for the hub’s Pairing screen; press START PAIRING. A hub fresh from the box is already in setup mode and its screen says SETUP, so you can go straight to START PAIRING.
- The app asks “Is this the first hub?”, then reads your doors from the hub and creates them in the app with the names FRONT, BACK, PATIO and GARAGE. You can rename them afterwards with the Edit button on each tile.
- WIFI SETUP. Choose your network from the list, enter the password and tap Submit. The hub shows Connecting to WiFi, then WiFi Connected, and the app shows Hub Connected.
It will not join Wi-Fi
- Password. Re-enter it carefully. Capital letters and the letter O versus zero catch most people.
- 5 GHz only. If your router has a separate 5 GHz network name, choose the 2.4 GHz one. If you cannot see one, check the router’s app or admin page: some routers let you split the bands or run a “compatibility” mode.
- Mesh systems. Most work. If joining fails repeatedly, temporarily turn off the 5 GHz band or move the hub nearer the main router while it joins, then put it back.
- Networks with a sign-in page (guest or hotel style) and company networks that ask for a username will not work. The hub joins ordinary WPA2 or WPA3 home networks with a password. Use your main home network.
- Too far from the router. The hub needs a usable signal where it sits. If the door is a long way from the router, a Wi-Fi extender near the door helps both the hub and your phone.
Changing router or Wi-Fi password
The hub keeps trying the old details. On the hub, touch and hold the screen until its setup menu appears and choose APP; the hub restarts into setup mode. Then in the app tap +, Locksure Hub, Locksure Hub (non-Matter), press START PAIRING and go through WIFI SETUP again with the new network and password. Your doors are kept. If you would rather start completely fresh, hold the button on the hub for 5 seconds: that is a full factory reset and clears the Wi-Fi details and the doors, so you add the doors again afterwards.
Adding a door later
Buy an Additional Monitor Pack and fit the monitor. On the hub, touch and hold the screen until the setup menu appears, choose DOORS, then ADD NEW DOOR, and turn the lock while the hub shows DOOR SEARCH (50 seconds). The door appears on the hub. To get it into the app, pair the hub with the app again (menu, APP, then + in the app and START PAIRING): the app reads the hub’s door list and adds the new door. The hub holds up to four doors. If you get stuck, email [email protected] and we will walk you through it.
What the hub does when the internet is down
It keeps working locally. The screen still shows each door and updates when you lock or unlock. Events are queued and sent when the connection returns, so the app catches up. Your lock and keys are unaffected either way. See Hub offline.
Does the hub need to be near the router or near the door?
Near the door, within about 5 to 7 metres, with a usable Wi-Fi signal where it sits. Bluetooth to the monitor is the shorter range of the two.
Can I use the hub without the app?
Yes. The hub shows each door’s state on its own screen without Wi-Fi. You need the app for checking from your phone, history, sharing and alerts.
Can I have two hubs?
Yes. Each Starter Pack brings a hub; both appear in the same app. Use a second hub for a door in another part of the house.
