What the lights mean
Locksure uses two colours and keeps them the same everywhere: on the monitor, on the Display Hub and in the app.
| Colour | Means |
|---|---|
| Cyan (blue-green) | Locked. The monitor saw the lock turn to locked. |
| Amber | Unlocked. The monitor saw the lock turn to unlocked. |
On the monitor or sensor
The lights flash once when the lock is turned and then go out. They do not stay lit, because the monitor spends almost all its life asleep to protect the battery. A dark monitor is a normal monitor. Turn the lock and watch for the flash.
- Cyan flash as you lock: working correctly.
- Amber flash as you unlock: working correctly.
- Colours the wrong way round (amber when locking): the fitting setting needs changing. Give the settings pin on the side of the monitor a short press with the settings tool, then lock the door and check the hub or app shows locked; repeat if needed. See Wrong state shown.
- No flash at all: the monitor did not see the turn. See Not detecting and Battery.
- Matter sensors: flashing when you fit the battery, and a slow pulse afterwards, means it is awake and open for pairing. If the flashing stops before you have paired it, take the battery out for a few seconds and put it back; the sensor starts setup again.
On the Display Hub (Original range)
| Hub shows | Means |
|---|---|
| Cyan door | Locked. |
| Amber door | Unlocked. |
| ALL GOOD | Every door on the hub is locked. |
| SETUP, open the Locksure app | The hub is waiting for the app: fresh from the box, after a reset, or after choosing APP from its menu. See Hub setup. |
| APP / FLIP / DOORS / RST | The setup menu, shown when you touch and hold the screen. APP puts the hub into app setup mode, FLIP rotates the display, DOORS adds a new door or removes all doors, RST is a factory reset (it asks you to confirm). It closes by itself after 30 seconds. |
| DOOR SEARCH with a countdown | The hub is listening for a monitor for 50 seconds. Turn the lock before the countdown ends. For a key turn door it searches INSIDE then OUTSIDE. |
| UPDATE HUB? TAP | A firmware update is ready. Touch the screen to allow it; the hub shows UPDATING and restarts. |
| Connecting to WiFi | Joining your network after setup or a restart. |
In the app
The door tile uses the same two colours, cyan for locked and amber for unlocked, with the time of the last change. You can choose your own colours for Locked, Unlocked, Open and Closed in the app (Door colours), and the Display Hub follows your choice. With the Matter Open/Close magnet fitted you also see Open or Closed as a separate state.
In Apple Home, Google Home and the others (Matter range)
Each home app draws the lock tile in its own colours. Apple Home’s colours are part of Apple’s interface, not the Locksure codes. The sensor’s own lights still flash cyan and amber on the door.
Why do the lights go out? Is it broken?
No. The lights flash during a lock or unlock and then switch off to save the battery. A monitor with no light showing is normal.
The monitor flashed but the hub or app did not change. Why?
The monitor saw the turn but the message did not reach the hub or your home app. See App not updating and Hub offline.
The hub shows amber but I know the door is locked.
Either the last turn was missed or the direction setting is reversed. Unlock and lock again while watching the monitor. If it flashes cyan and the hub updates, it was a missed turn; see Not detecting. If it flashes amber when locking, change the fitting setting with a short press of the settings pin and test again.
