Removing Locksure, or taking it to a new home
Locksure attaches with a strong adhesive pad, which is why it stays put for years. It also means you must not pull it off. Pulling can damage the monitor and leave the pad behind. Use the removal cord from the box.
Taking the monitor off
- Take the thumb magnet (or key disc) off first and keep it with the monitor.
- Wrap the supplied cord around behind the monitor, between the monitor (including any spacers or brackets) and the lock plate.
- Work the cord inwards towards the barrel with a sawing motion. It cuts through the adhesive pad.
- Keep going until the monitor comes away in your hand. Do not lever it with a screwdriver.
- Peel any pad residue off the plate. A little warm soapy water or a drop of label remover shifts the last of it. The plate is undamaged.
If you have lost the cord, dental floss or a length of strong fishing line does the same job.
Refitting on another door
- Check the new lock passes the four fit checks.
- Fit a fresh adhesive pad to the monitor and to any spacer. Replacement pads are not sold in the shop; email [email protected] with your order number and we will send what you need.
- Fit as new, following the fitting guide for your version. The monitor keeps its pairing, so once it is on the new door and the hub is within range, it carries on as the same door.
Moving house with the whole system
- Remove the monitors and the magnets as above.
- Unplug the hub. Doors, settings and your account stay as they were.
- At the new house, plug in the hub and give it the new Wi-Fi from the app: see Hub setup and Wi-Fi, “Changing router”.
- Refit the monitors with fresh pads. If a door changes from thumb turn to key turn, you need the other version.
Leaving it for the next owner, or selling it on
Remove the doors from your app and reset the hub (hold the button on the hub for 5 seconds; this clears its Wi-Fi details and doors) so the next owner can set it up in their own account. Delete your account in the app if you will not use Locksure again.
Renting
The pad comes away from the plate and nothing is drilled, which is why renters choose it. Keep the cord with your important bits and pieces for moving-out day. See our renters’ guide.
Can I reuse the adhesive pad?
No. Once cut it will not hold. Use a fresh pad.
Will removing it damage my lock or door?
No. The cord cuts the pad, the plate is untouched, and nothing was ever drilled or screwed.
