This privacy policy sets out how Locksure (operated by Lockstate Limited, Company No. 13478822) uses and protects any information that you provide when using our website, mobile app, and the Locksure device. We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected and that your data is handled in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Locksure may update this policy from time to time. You should check this page periodically to ensure you are happy with any changes.
What We Collect
Depending on how you interact with Locksure, we may collect the following information:
• Your name, email address and phone number (when you create an account or make a purchase)
• Delivery address and order details (to fulfil your purchase)
• Device usage data: lock/unlock events, door open/close events, timestamps, battery levels and device diagnostics (transmitted from your Locksure Hub via Wi-Fi)
• Device information: Hub and sensor firmware versions, device identifiers
• Support correspondence: messages exchanged via the in-app chat or email
• Website analytics: pages visited, scroll depth, button clicks (collected anonymously via Google Analytics)
Where We Store Your Data
Your data is stored across separate, purpose-specific systems. This means no single system holds more personal information than it needs:

Your home address is only held on WooCommerce for order fulfilment. Your usage data in Firestore is referenced by an internal account identifier, not stored alongside your address. This separation reduces risk in the unlikely event of any security incident.

We may produce anonymised, aggregated reports based on how Locksure devices are used across our customer base. These reports contain only statistical patterns (such as the percentage of doors locked overnight, or average lock-check frequency) and cannot be used to identify any individual user.
These anonymised insights may be shared with home insurance companies, smart home technology partners, housing associations, or academic researchers. Your personal information is never included.
You can opt out of contributing to anonymised datasets at any time through the app settings. Your device will continue to work normally.
Security by Design
Locksure cannot open, lock, or unlock your door. It is a read-only monitoring device. Even in the unlikely event of a data breach, no one could use Locksure data to gain access to your property. The device has no mechanism to actuate your lock — it only reports its position.
We protect your data with encryption in transit (TLS), secure authentication, and purpose-separated storage. However, no system is completely immune to risk, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your data with:
• Service providers who help us operate (e.g. Google Firebase for cloud hosting, payment processors for transactions) — these are contractually bound to protect your data
• Law enforcement, if required by law or to protect our rights
• Third parties, but only in anonymised, aggregated form that cannot identify you (see Anonymised Data above)
How Long We Keep Your Data
• Account and usage data: until you delete your account
• Order and transaction records: 6 years (HMRC requirement)
• Support chat transcripts: 2 years from last interaction
• Anonymised aggregate data: indefinitely (it can no longer identify anyone)
When you delete your account, all identifiable data is removed from Firestore and the Dashboard. WooCommerce order records are retained for tax compliance only.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Ask us to correct or delete your personal data
• Ask us to stop or restrict processing
• Object to processing for marketing purposes
• Request your data in a portable, machine-readable format
• Withdraw consent at any time (this doesn’t affect processing that already took place)
You can delete your usage history and account directly from the Locksure app. For any other data requests, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies to help analyse traffic and improve your experience. We use Google Analytics 4 to track page visits, scroll depth, and form interactions. No personally identifiable information is collected through these cookies. You can choose to accept or decline cookies through your browser settings.
Children’s Privacy
Our website and product are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
